Pencil and eraser

Paper for sketches

12x18 white construction paper or bristle board

2x3 in pieces of cardboard or cardstock. Needs to be thick enough to hold shape but no corrugated please.

White, blue, and black tempera paint

Small piece of sponge (for painting)

Red construction paper 9-12

Orange construction paper

Black sharpie marker

Paper for sketching

4 sheets 12x18 white construction paper or heavy drawing paper

1 sheet 12x18 construction paper in any color (will be the base so you won’t see it)

Modge podge - prefer a gloss finish but matte will work or watered down glue would also work.

Paint brush suitable for glue (I wouldn’t use your best brush for this as students may or may not clean them well enough to keep them nice)

Size 6 or 8 round brush

Set of watercolors - pan or tubes are fine, but pans will be cheaper and last longer

Container for water

Paper towel for wiping brushes

Oil Pastels - We will be using them to color in eyes only, so the colors will depend on what type of animal they choose and what color they would like their eyes *We will use these for future projects so if you plan to continue with classes you don’t need to worry about purchasing a set...they will be used!

Crayons - any set of crayons will work. We will be making scribbles to use as a base for a resist, even junky stubs will work for this :)

Black tempera paint or India Ink - either will work for our purposes. If you already have India Ink then that would be my choice, but it is expensive and tempera can work just as well. :)

Blue, Red, Yellow, White, and Black tempera paint, can also include other colors such as green, purple, and pink. Otherwise, we will be mixing :).

Palette for painting - This could be as simple as a paper plate!

Small detail brush -- The smaller the better! Please make sure it is soft bristle
-
Size 6 or 8 paintbrush --again, soft bristle only please!

Liquid starch --we only need a very small amount, so a small container will do
-
Chalk pastels or drawing chalk - DO NOT get regular chalkboard chalk, it needs to be soft! The more colors the better!

Container for water

Napkin or paper towel for drying brush

Black fine tip sharpie marker

Q- tips - 4 or 5

Set of Drawing pencils -Need at least 5 different hardnessess. The more you have the more variety you will have, but not required.

Kneaded Eraser

Woodless Pencils - optional, but are nice to experiment with.

Drawing paper pad, at least 9x12 - The larger the pad the larger and more detailed the work can be. Beginners will be doing mostly studies and one bigger drawing, returning students will be doing more detailed, larger drawings. The size is up to you! :)

Returning Students: Compressed Charcoal - This will be messy! You may want a box for them to work in and paper towels nearby!

Drawing Supply List

Set of Drawing pencils -Need at least 5 different harnesses. The more you have the more variety you will have, but not required.

Drawing paper pad, at least 9x12 - The larger the pad the larger and more detailed the work can be. The size is up to you! :)

Other ideas: compressed charcoal or colored pencils. We will be pushing to new mediums and designs so the choice is yours as to whether or not you would like to do color or charcoal!

Acrylic Painting Supply List

Canvas Board or Stretched canvas
-
Brushes of various sizes, both round and flat. You want a hard bristle, usually labled for acrylic or oil paint.

Container for water

Pallet for mixing paint. Lidded preferred

Paper towels for cleaning brush
-
Acrylic paints in various colors. You can purchase beginner sets at any art supply stores, and online.

Watercolor Supply List

Watercolor paper pad - Preferrably at least 90lb. Glue bonded is also helpful but not required.

Brushes of various sizes, both round and flat. You are looking for a soft bristle brush.

Container for water

Beginner set of watercolor paints. Tube paint tends to be of higher quality but the dried paint sets can also work.
